Baseball Recap: Tulia Sets Scoring Season-High Against Friona

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tulia). They put the hurt on the Friona Chieftans with a sharp 18-10 win on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Chieftans: they've now won three in a row.

Jarvis Pestrana was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of David Abeyta, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Pestrana wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Tulia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Tulia's record now sits at 8-2. As for Friona, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Tulia will be taking part in a tournament against Christoval at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Friona, they will take on Ralls in a tournament on Thursday.
