Basketball Recap: Bear Lake Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Myles Harless and Grady Harless

If Bear Lake was feeling good fresh off their 80-21 takedown of Crossroads Charter Academy last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bear Lake Lakers fell to the Onekama Portagers 51-47. While losing is never fun, the Lakers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 438th, while the Portagers are ranked 164th).

Bear Lake's loss on Wednesday came despite strong showings from Grady Harless and Myles Harless. Grady posted 18 points and four steals, while Myles dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. Those 15 boards gave Myles a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Hallead, who put up five points.

Bear Lake has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for Onekama, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.

Bear Lake has already played their next game, a 56-54 loss against Baldwin on the 17th. Onekama has also already played their next match (against Suttons Bay), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
