The Stony Point Tigers were the 28-21 winner over the McNeil Mavericks when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Stony Point was dealt a 52-21 defeat at the hands of McNeil on Friday. Stony Point has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Kinnick Kalbus threw for 90 yards and a touchdown. Andrew Gomez was his top target, picking up 33 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Erin Bolton rushed for 64 yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McNeil to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jadon Sultz, who rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also threw for 123 yards and a touchdown. Jarell Gary was another key contributor, gaining 100 total yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was McNeil's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Tony Shannon and his two sacks.
Stony Point's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for McNeil, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.
Stony Point will head out on the road to face off against Manor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Manor is ranked 368th, while Stony Point is ranked 346th). As for McNeil, they will be playing at home against Cedar Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cedar Ridge is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
