Softball Recap: Christel House Has No Trouble Against Pike

Christel House was not the first on the board on Thursday, but they got there more often. They blew past the Pike Red Devils 15-4. Considering the Eagles have won ten matchups by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Allie Schultz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Schultz was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Christel House let Dayana Orellana and Kiona Gomez run wild. Orellana got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Gomez went 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Schultz, who got on base in two of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Christel House is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.2 runs over those games. As for Pike, they are on a 23-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-22.

Christel House and Pike are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Eagles will square off against Eastern Hancock at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Royals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.77 runs per game on average), something Christel House will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Pike, they will face off against Tri-West Hendricks at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bruins have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
