The Red Rock Central Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 56-53 to Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Red Rock Central of the 56-53 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture on Saturday.
Red Rock Central's loss came despite strong showings from Isaac Simonson and Jayden Lang. Simonson dropped a double-double on 11 points and 18 rebounds, while Lang scored 20 points along with six assists and two steals. Simonson is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Corey Arkell was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Red Rock Central were working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda only racked up 11 assists.
Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sam Goedtke, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tim Salentiny, who scored 14 points along with five steals.
Red Rock Central's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-15.
Red Rock Central will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Adrian/Ellsworth at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th. One thing working in Adrian/Ellsworth's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games. As for Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda, they will play host again and welcome Hills-Beaver Creek, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
