The Clinton Cougars will take on the Big Foot Chiefs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Clinton made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Juda, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Panthers on Saturday. While the Cougars didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Andie Bell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Vada Matts, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriella Winch, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Big Foot had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Cardinals as they made off with an 18-11 victory.
Lily Wolf was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mylee Walter, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Big Foot kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.
Clinton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Big Foot, they pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
Clinton came out on top in a nail-biter against Big Foot when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Chiefs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
