Golden had won nine straight at home, but on Friday they bumped up to 20-2 to make it ten. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Green Mountain Rams. Considering the Demons have won 17 matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jonah Jefferson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Austin Bittner was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Gunnar Hetrick, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Golden was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in eight consecutive games.
As for Green Mountain, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, their shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
On Green Mountain's side, they got a good showing from Miles Flanagan, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Flanagan has become a key player for the Rams: the team is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-15 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Green Mountain saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryne Colaizzi, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.
Looking ahead, Golden will face off against Dakota Ridge at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Demons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Green Mountain, they will take on Wheat Ridge at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Farmers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.89 runs per game on average), something the Rams will no doubt try to take advantage of.
