Fayette Christian will head out on the road to face off against the Shekinah Christian Flames at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Monday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Fayette Christian had to settle for a 31-29 defeat against Hillsboro Christian Academy.
Meanwhile, Shekinah Christian suffered a tough 62-39 defeat at the hands of Madison Christian on Monday. While losing is never fun, Shekinah Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 614th, while Madison Christian is ranked 166th).
Despite their defeat, Shekinah Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Noe Wanty, who scored 11 points along with three steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Haylee Beachy, who scored eight points along with five assists.
Even though they lost, Shekinah Christian were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Madison Christian only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
Fayette Christian's record is now 2-1. Shekinah Christian's record now sits at 2-4.
