Treasure Coast is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. They are taking a road trip to face off against the Centennial Eagles at 3:30 p.m. Centennial took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Treasure Coast, who comes in off a win.
Treasure Coast took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over Palm Beach Gardens. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Gators recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Anthony Musso looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Thomas Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, two RBI, and one run. Those triples were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Clayton McMichael, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Treasure Coast always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Centennial's offense. They came up short against Vero Beach on Thursday, falling 9-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Indians: they've now lost three in a row.
Centennial saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Giovanni Lopez, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles. Those two doubles gave Lopez a new career-high.
Treasure Coast's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Treasure Coast came out on top in a nail-biter against Centennial in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Treasure Coast since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
