There's no place like home for the Beaumont Cougars, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They greeted the New Year with with a 65-51 victory over Yucaipa. Given Beaumont's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Yucaipa is ranked 733rd), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

The game was Joseph's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Vince tracy Capuras was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Despite the loss, Yucaipa still got an impressive performance from Jonathan Campbell, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. Campbell also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Tristan Doty, who scored six points.
