Alisal is 9-0 against the Wildcatz since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Alisal Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Watsonville Wildcatz at 7:00 p.m. Alisal has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 755 points over their last 11 games.
Alisal pushed their score all the way to 56 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Marina by a score of 58-56.
Despite their defeat, Alisal saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Adrian Cardenas, who scored six points along with 13 assists and eight rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Cardenas is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now racked up eight or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kike Jacinto, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Watsonville was the victim of a rough 74-48 loss at the hands of the Mariners on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Watsonville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 827th, while the Mariners are ranked 392nd).
Alisal's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-5. As for Watsonville, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Everything went Alisal's way against the Wildcatz in their previous meeting back in January as the Trojans made off with a 68-45 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Alisal since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
