The Thomas More Prep-Marian Monarchs were the 47-42 winner over the Norton Bluejays when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Thomas More Prep-Marian fell 49-36 to Norton on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Thomas More Prep-Marian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Norton is ranked 60th).
Norton was led to victory by Roman Hauser and Eli Jones. Hauser scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and two steals, while Jones scored 19 points along with four steals. Jones is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Tyce Melvin was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Thomas More Prep-Marian's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Norton, their win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1.
Thomas More Prep-Marian will square off against Ellis at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Ellis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday. As for Norton, they will head out on the road to face off against Plainville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
