Basketball Recap: Eastern Shore HomeSchool Takes a Loss

After flying high against Bayview Christian last Tuesday, Eastern Shore HomeSchool came back down to earth. The Eastern Shore HomeSchool Mavericks fell just short of the Freire Charter School Wilmington Dragons by a score of 53-51 on Thursday. While the Mavericks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Dragons 15-11 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Eastern Shore HomeSchool saw an underclassman step up: freshman Eli Miller went 7 for 16 on his way to 22 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists. Those six assists set a new season-high mark for Miller. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Miller, who posted nine points along with seven assists and five boards.

Eastern Shore HomeSchool's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Freire Charter School Wilmington, their win ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-2.

Eastern Shore HomeSchool didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-40 victory against Salisbury Christian on the 27th. As for Freire Charter School Wilmington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 65-59 loss against Tome on the 27th.
