Jamestown is 0-10 against York since March of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Eagles will square off against the Falcons at 5:00 p.m. Jamestown's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so York's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Jamestown will bounce into Monday's game after beating Smithfield, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Eagles came out on top against the Packers by a score of 6-2 on Friday.
Tenley Medlin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up 14 Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Olivia 'Cookie' Lawrence, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs. Zoe Mayes (Marymount University) was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, York got the win against Lafayette on Friday by a conclusive 19-6. That 13-run margin sets a new team best for the Falcons this season.
Leslee Maldonado and Ella Thurman did most of the damage at the plate: Maldonado went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI, while Thurman went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave Thurman a new career-high. Kenlee Washington also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
York kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Jamestown's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for York, their record now sits at 5-3.
York's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Jamestown has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for York, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Jamestown keep running through batters, or will the Falcons buck the trend?
Jamestown might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from York when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
