Basketball Recap: Intermountain Christian Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Intermountain Christian had lost five straight headed into Monday's match, but Noah Hillaker didn't let it get to six. The Intermountain Christian Lions claimed a resounding 54-18 win over the Mount Vernon Patriots thanks in part to Hillaker, who went 9 of 21 on his way to 18 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. His evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Smith, who posted ten points and three steals. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2023.

Mount Vernon's loss on Monday came despite strong showings from Mustafa Jalili and Thayne Van Allen. Jalili had six steals and five boards, while Van Allen put up no points. Jalili has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.

Intermountain Christian's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-8. As for Mount Vernon, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Intermountain Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 67-55 defeat against Draper APA on the 19th. As for Mount Vernon, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 44-39 win against Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams on the 19th.
