On Monday, Tekoa Academy ended up a good deal behind the Lions and lost 65-46.
Several Knight players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nathaniel McCullar, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and six steals. That was a full 37% of Tekoa Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kenneth Newton, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
It was another big night for Ty Merrill, who scored 31 points for Veritas Classical Academy. Merrill has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more points the last 11 times he's played. Jake Strahan was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Tekoa Academy now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Veritas Classical Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season.
Tekoa Academy will head out on the road to challenge the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Harmony Science Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully the Knight likes a good challenge. As for Veritas Classical Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
