There's no place like home for the Kearney Bulldogs, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They pulled ahead with a 66-65 photo finish over Summit Christian Academy. The victory was all the more spectacular given Kearney's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 268th, while Summit Christian Academy is ranked 58th).
Summit Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Max Rieger, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Mike Thomas iii was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds.
Kearney's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Summit Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
Kearney won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Platte County on January 13th.
