Softball Recap: Canton Wins Going Away Against Kewanee

While Canton put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Kewanee. Canton put the hurt on Kewanee with a sharp 9-0 victory. The Little Giants not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 21, 2024.

Tori Birch made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Makaylynne Correa was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Allison Wheeler, who scored a run and stole four bases while going 2-for-4.

The win got Canton back to even at 1-1. As for Kewanee, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Coming up, Canton will square off against Richwoods at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kewanee, they will take on Williamsfield at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
