Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chaparral). They put the hurt on the Highlands Ranch Falcons with a sharp 18-8 victory on Monday. With that win, the Wolverines brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Cal Tiner was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one triple. Those five hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Josh McWilliams, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Chaparral was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Chaparral pushed their record up to 11-7 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Highlands Ranch, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-10.

Looking ahead, Chaparral will take on Mountain Vista at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Wolverines surely won't give up without a fight. As for Highlands Ranch, they will challenge Heritage at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
