The Saks Wildcats lost against the Jacksonville Golden Eagles back in December of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Saks was beaten by Jacksonville 70-32. Saks has not had much luck with Jacksonville recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Jacksonville was led to victory by Deasia Prothro and Alexis Phillips. Prothro scored 18 points along with three steals, while Phillips scored 15 points along with six steals. Prothro is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jayci Taylor, who scored ten points.
Saks has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Jacksonville, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Saks will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hokes Bluff at 5:30 p.m. on January 8, 2024. Jacksonville will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Springville at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
