Liberty Common hasn't had much luck against Front Range Christian recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Liberty Common Eagles take on Front Range Christian Falcons at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Liberty Common made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Jefferson Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Liberty Common blew past Jefferson Academy 15-4 on Monday. With that victory, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 8.2 runs per game.
Roman Galindo made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Galindo was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, Bryson Weibler was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two triples, four RBI, and one double. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Owen Hood was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.
Liberty Common was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .472. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Front Range Christian got the win against Kiowa two weeks ago by a conclusive 14-2. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Like Liberty Common, Front Range Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Haedan Morton. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Morton was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Max Morton and Landon Deza did most of the damage at the plate: Max went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run, while Deza scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Nate McInturff, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
The victory got Liberty Common back to even at 2-2. As for Front Range Christian, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
Liberty Common suffered a grim 12-5 defeat to Front Range Christian in their previous meeting back in March of 2018. Can Liberty Common avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
