Volleyball Recap: Benicia Comes Up Short

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Benicia and Acalanes have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Panthers came up short against the Dons, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in September.

Benicia was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Acalanes work for it, especially in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-13, 27-25.

When it comes to explaining why Benicia lost, don't look at Zoe Cohen. Despite the final result, she had 19 digs. Cohen has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last three times she's played.

Benicia's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-12. As for Acalanes, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Benicia will take on rival Northgate at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Acalanes is set to square off against their familiar foe Campolindo at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
