Santa Rosa is on an 18-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Texico is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Lions will host the Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Tuesday, Santa Rosa got the win against Estancia by a conclusive 25-3. Considering the Lions have won 15 contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Joshua Cordova made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI.
In other batting news, Santa Rosa got a massive performance out of Andre Chavez, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with five runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those five runs gave Chavez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Daniel Zamora, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.
Santa Rosa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .581. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .393 or higher in eight consecutive games.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Texico and Loving meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Wolverines came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 14-10. That's two games straight that the Wolverines have won by exactly four runs.
The team relied heavily on Alex Fuentes, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ismael Silva, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.
Texico's victory bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Santa Rosa, their win bumped their record up to 17-3.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Santa Rosa has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .596. However, it's not like Texico struggles in that department as they've averaged .555. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Santa Rosa was able to grind out a solid victory over Texico in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 6-3. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Wolverines have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
