Softball Recap: Centerville's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Centerville entered their tilt with Winchester Community on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Golden Falcons. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bulldogs also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Aubrey Seifer made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Seifer wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Haven Walter, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Hannah Beaman was another, going 3-for-4 with one run.

Centerville hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matches.

Centerville pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Winchester Community, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season.

Centerville and Winchester Community are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Bulldogs will challenge Hagerstown at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 1.3 runs per game this season, so Centerville's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Winchester Community, they will take on Union County at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.84 runs per game on average), something the Golden Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
