St. Marys is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Braxton County 16-1 on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Blue Devils needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Autumn Mossor made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, St. Marys let Alyssa Winland and Brylee McGrady run wild. Winland got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while McGrady went 3-for-4 with five RBI and one double. That's the most RBI McGrady has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Cox, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
St. Marys hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 6-3 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Cameron came out on top against Bridgeport on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Dragons walked away with an 8-5 win over the Bulldogs. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dragons.
Lexi Bogard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Skye Dobbs was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kendra Thomas, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
St. Marys' victory bumped their record up to 12-17. As for Cameron, their win bumped their record up to 8-13.
Everything went St. Marys' way against Cameron in their previous matchup last Tuesday, as St. Marys made off with an 11-3 victory. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
