Basketball Recap: Florida State University High School Extends Winning Streak to Three

Florida State University High School had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 71-54 victory over the Crossroad Academy Scorpions. Given the Seminoles' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Scorpions are ranked 147th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Florida State University High School had a senior duo take command as Trey Card went 8 for 11 on his way to 24 points and five boards and Amare Robinson went 5 of 7 en route to 13 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Card has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Godwin, who posted seven points.

Florida State University High School smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crossroad Academy only pulled down six offensive rebounds.

Crossroad Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Forrest Dudley, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 21 points. Dudley is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Camari Hale, who went 6 of 11 en route to 16 points.

Florida State University High School pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Crossroad Academy, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-6.

Coincidentally, Florida State University High School and Crossroad Academy will both be playing Godby the next time they take the court. Crossroad Academy will head out to face Godby at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Florida State University High School will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on January 14th.
