It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Bowne Wildcats ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against Campus Magnet by a score of 80-73. 80 seems to be a good number for Bowne as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Bowne's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Darrel Taylor led the charge by dropping a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Taylor has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Josiah Salmon, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds.
Bowne has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for Campus Magnet, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
Bowne won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Gaels at 5:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Iona Prep presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Wildcats in New York (the Gaels are ranked 19th, while the Wildcats are ranked 157th). As for Campus Magnet, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rangers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Forest Hills' favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
