Tanner Wade made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Jonathan Piner was incredible, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Chase Roberson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, North Lenoir suffered their closest loss since April 26, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Greene Central by a score of 7-5. The loss was the Hawks' first of the season.
Like East Carteret, North Lenoir also got a great game from a two-way player: Garrett Byrd. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Byrd was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
