The Hickory Flat Rebels will play host again and welcome the Wheeler Eagles, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Mississippi (Hickory Flat is ranked 151st, while Wheeler is ranked 163rd).
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Hickory Flat can now relate to. They took a 48-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. Hickory Flat has struggled against Blue Mountain recently, as their contest on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Wheeler earned a 56-45 win over Thrasher on Friday.
Rebekah Mason was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 21 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Marley Garrett, who scored 18 points.
Hickory Flat's defeat dropped their record down to 15-13. As for Wheeler, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-15 record this season.
Hickory Flat lost to Wheeler at home by a decisive 52-35 margin in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. Can Hickory Flat avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
