The Timpanogos Timberwolves will head out on the road to challenge the Uintah Utes at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Timpanogos is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.7 runs per game this season.
Timpanogos took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Mountain View by a score of 11-8.
The team relied heavily on Kaydance Pope, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Kaleah Sao, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
Timpanogos was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 12-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Uintah got themselves on the board against Orem on Tuesday, but Orem never followed suit. They blew past the Tigers 8-0. Considering the Utes have won six games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
The result came thanks to Abbie Davis's shutout, as she gave up just three hits.
On the hitting side, Kynlee Bristol was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Sophia Pope was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Uintah has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Timpanogos, their record now sits at 14-5.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Timpanogos has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .484. However, it's not like Uintah struggles in that department as they've averaged .448. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Timpanogos couldn't quite get it done against Uintah in their previous meeting two weeks ago as they fell 6-2. Can the Timberwolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
