The Jonesboro Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 21 points or more this season. They blew past Hampton, posting a 74-41 win on the road. Given Jonesboro's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 77th in Georgia, while Hampton is ranked 267th in Tennessee), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Montez Redding was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with five assists and five rebounds. The match was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Jones, who scored 12 points.
Jonesboro pushed their record up to 7-4 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 38.33 points. As for Hampton, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Jonesboro won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hoover at 5:30 p.m. on December 21st. Hoover knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Jonesboro likes a good challenge. As for Hampton, they will head out on the road to face off against Dobyns-Bennett at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
