On Friday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Weaver had to settle for a 40-38 loss against Wadley. Weaver has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Wadley was led to victory by A'mya Brown and Celest Angel. Brown scored 14 points, while Angel scored 15 points. The game was Brown's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bentley Mulkey, who scored five points.
Weaver has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Wadley, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Weaver will take on Cleburne County at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Wadley, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Faith Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
