The Lehi Pioneers are ranked highly in their home state, and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the Rigby Trojans. Lehi lost to Rigby at home by a decisive 61-44 margin. Lehi was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Rigby apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.
When it comes to explaining why Lehi lost, one person who can't be blamed is Addy Scrivner. Despite the final result, she scored 18 points along with five steals. Scrivner scored a full 40.9% of Lehi's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ellie Hill, who scored nine points.
Rigby had a senior duo take command as Kambree Barber dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds and Kylie Dansie scored 19 points along with four steals. The contest was Barber's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Mylee Graham was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Lehi and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Rigby, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Lehi and Payson will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Payson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday. As for Rigby, they will head out on the road to face off against Blackfoot at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Blackfoot will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Idaho Rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while Rigby is ranked sixth).
