Volleyball Game Preview: Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate Phoenix vs. Universal Academy Falcons

Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate is 8-1 against Universal Academy since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Phoenix will host the Falcons at 6:00 p.m.

Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering North Tampa Christian Academy just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Titans.

Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made North Tampa Christian Academy work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-20, 14-25, 25-20.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Universal Academy challenged Families Instructing Students HomeSchool on Tuesday. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Hawks. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.

Universal Academy not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Families Instructing Students HomeSchool between 16 and 17 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-17, 25-16.

Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 12-3. As for Universal Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-10.

Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate beat Universal Academy 3-1 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Will the Phoenix repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
