After losing to the Noble Street College Prep Golden Tigers the last time they met, the Baker Bobcats decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Baker escaped with a win on Saturday against the Golden Tigers by the margin of a single free throw, 36-35.
Serenity Curry continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Baker's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Destiny Davis, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Several Golden Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sarai Gonzalez, who scored ten points along with four steals. Ariana Bahena was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six steals.
Baker's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Noble Street College Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Baker won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Griffins at 1:00 p.m. on January 28th. Noble Street College Prep will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on February 8th.
