Wade Hampton hasn't had much luck against Dorman recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. Wade Hampton will head out on the road to face off against Dorman at 7:30 p.m. Wade Hampton has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Wade Hampton is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They lost 25-1 to James F. Byrnes. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Generals couldn't push the score so high this time.
Wade Hampton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Breleigh Betsill, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple. Sanaii Rivers also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Dorman had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They never let the Indians get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. While the Cavaliers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
The result came thanks to Makenzie Rapalee's shutout, as she gave up just six hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Emerson McLane was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Clark, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Dorman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 10.6.
Dorman's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Wade Hampton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Wade Hampton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like Dorman struggles in that department as they've averaged .318. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wade Hampton suffered a grim 12-5 defeat to Dorman when the teams last played back in April of 2022. Can Wade Hampton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
