The Brandeis Broncos lost against the Madison Mavericks back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Brandeis was outmatched by Madison on the road and fell 65-35. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Brandeis has scored all season.
Ryan Espinosa and Trevor Short certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Espinosa scored 13 points, while Short scored six points along with 12 rebounds. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for him.
Madison got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Caden Cooper out in front who scored 18 points along with six rebounds. The matchup was Cooper's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Duncan Williams, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Brandeis and nudges their season record down to 9-9. As for Madison, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-7.
Brandeis will be home for the holidays to greet Johnson at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Johnson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 617th, while Brandeis is ranked 301st). As for Madison, they will head out on the road to face off against Clark at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.
