Decatur dropped down to 8-9 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 7-1 to the Eagle Mountain Knights. The Eagles were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the three games prior), but the Knights' pitcher proved too tough.
Alivia Creasser spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Decatur saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Audrey Teichelman, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
As for Eagle Mountain, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games.
On Eagle Mountain's side, Ashlyn Eggleton made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Eggleton was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Olivia Wilson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Zoe Hawthorne was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Decatur will venture away from home to take on Springtown at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Porcupines' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Eagle Mountain, they will head out to challenge John Paul II at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights will need to watch out since the Cardinals have now posted at least ten runs in their last six games.
