If the Glastonbury Guardians were riding high off their 37-10 takedown of the Conard Red Wolves last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Glastonbury took a serious blow against Southington on Friday, falling 48-14. Glastonbury lost against Southington in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 27-6 score last time.
Leading Southington to victory were Zach Findley and C J DiBenedetto. Findley rushed for 131 yards, while DiBenedetto threw for 229 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77.4% of his passes. Southington also got help from Evan Anderson who showed off his sure hands for 84 receiving yards.
Glastonbury bumped their record down to 4-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.3 points per game. As for Southington, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glastonbury will take on Simsbury at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Simsbury and Glastonbury are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads. Southington will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cheshire at 10:00 a.m. on November 23rd. Hopefully Cheshire focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Friday.
