Central Cabarrus has gone a perfect 7-0 against Lake Norman Charter recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Vikings will welcome the Knights at 5:30 p.m. Central Cabarrus is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for Central Cabarrus after they put the first runs on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lake Norman. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Peyton Smith made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kinley Hood, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Lake Norman Charter waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Cougars get on the board and left with an 8-0 win.
Ilyana Smith was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Sarah Negrete was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Lake Norman Charter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive contests.
Lake Norman Charter's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Central Cabarrus, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Central Cabarrus has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lake Norman Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Central Cabarrus took their win against Lake Norman Charter in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 16-4 score. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
