The Corner Canyon Chargers will stay at home for another week and welcome the Lone Peak Knights at 4:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Corner Canyon has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 527 points over their last 11 matches.
Corner Canyon put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 52-0 win over Layton. Given Corner Canyon's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah football rankings (they are ranked second, while Layton is ranked 62nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Isaac Wilson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 333 yards and four touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes, and also rushing for 81 yards on only seven carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Eyre, who picked up 136 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Lone Peak fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 14-3 win over Mountain Ridge on Friday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lone Peak to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jackson Blake, who threw for 217 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Brooks Wilde, who rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Lone Peak's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.
Corner Canyon's victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 10-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.4 points per game. As for Lone Peak, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Corner Canyon has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 161.8 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Lone Peak, though, as they've been averaging only 60.6 per game. How will Lone Peak fare against such a dominant running game?
