The St. Petersburg Green Devils came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Osceola 46-44. Given St. Petersburg's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while Osceola is ranked 443rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Osceola lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Hayden Hundt, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eleven Williams, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
St. Petersburg pushed their record up to 13-5 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Osceola, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-9.
St. Petersburg won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Largo at 8:00 p.m. on January 17th. Largo has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 338 points over their last five games. As for Osceola, they will head out on the road to take on Hollins at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
