Stanwood has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The Ferndale Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, Stanwood was just a hair shy of victory and fell 21-20 to Marysville Getchell.
Even though the team lost, they still came through with several impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Max Mayo, who rushed for 21 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 33 receiving yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Silas Turpin, who rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Ferndale took their match at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 49-14 win over Mount Vernon. Given Ferndale's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Mount Vernon is ranked 143rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ferndale's win bumped their season record to 5-2 while Stanwood's defeat dropped theirs to 3-4.
Stanwood suffered a grim 28-7 defeat to Ferndale in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can Stanwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
