Royal has enjoyed the comforts of home their last five games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Lakeside Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Royal knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully Lakeside likes a good challenge.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Royal had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 42-0 win over the Cougars. Fans of Royal have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Lance Allred and Ethan Ellis were among the main playmakers for Royal as the former rushed for 75 yards and three touchdowns and the latter rushed for 177 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries.
Meanwhile, Lakeside put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They pulled ahead with a 24-23 photo finish over Nooksack Valley. 24 seems to be a good number for Lakeside as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Royal pushed their record up to 12-0 with that win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 44.92 points. As for Lakeside, their victory bumped their record up to 12-0.
Everything came up roses for Royal against Lakeside when the teams last played back in November of 2014 as the team secured a 49-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Royal since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
