The Concord Academy Eagles waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They came out on top against Northside Christian Academy by a score of 44-37. That's another feather in the cap for Concord Academy, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Concord Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Justice Alexander, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. Alexander is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Meyers, who scored ten points along with four steals and two blocks.
Despite the defeat, Northside Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: JaKaila Gaskin dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Amani Womack was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Northside Christian Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Concord Academy's victory was their 15th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-2. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 36.67 points. As for Northside Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 14-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Concord Academy will face off against Metrolina Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Northside Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Hickory Grove Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hickory Grove Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 327th, while Northside Christian Academy is ranked 84th).
