Saegertown took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Union City Bears. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Panthers also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.
Hailey Obenrader was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Obenrader was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Leah McGill and Rylie Braymer did most of the damage at the plate: McGill fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4, while Braymer scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits McGill has posted since back in April of 2024. Rylee Price was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run.
Saegertown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Union City only posted a batting average of .048.
Looking ahead, Saegertown will challenge Reynolds at 1:00 p.m. on the 29th. As for Union City, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 18-0 win against North East on the 20th.
