McCurdy is 9-1 against Penasco since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The McCurdy Bobcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Penasco Panthers at 7:00 p.m. McCurdy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Penasco likes a good challenge.
McCurdy pushed their score all the way to 59 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Mesa Vista on the road by a decisive 75-59 margin.
Despite the loss, McCurdy got a solid performance out of Lucas Martinez, who scored 26 points along with four steals. Martinez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Ryan Montoya was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Penasco ended up a good deal behind Mora on Saturday and lost 64-48. Penasco has struggled against Mora recently, as their contest on Saturday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
McCurdy's loss dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Penasco, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.
McCurdy strolled past Penasco when the teams last played back in January by a score of 61-45. Does McCurdy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Penasco turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
