The North Lamar Panthers and the Liberty-Eylau Leopards will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Friday, North Lamar came up short against Sulphur Springs and fell 50-39. North Lamar has not had much luck with Sulphur Springs recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Meanwhile, Liberty-Eylau was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 57-51 to Paris. It was the first time this season that Liberty-Eylau let down their fans at home.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was De'narrian Colvin, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Dequane Prevo, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
North Lamar has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Liberty-Eylau, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-7.
North Lamar lost to Liberty-Eylau on the road by a decisive 74-57 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can North Lamar avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
