The Norland Vikings will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Somerset Academy Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on February 15th. One thing working in Norland's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
Norland extended their postseason success on Saturday against Archbishop McCarthy. They walked away with a 68-59 victory over the Mavericks. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Marcus Allen was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Norland's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Triston Wilson, who scored 13 points along with six assists.
Meanwhile, Somerset Academy pushed their score all the way to 56 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The matchup between them and Archbishop McCarthy wasn't particularly close, with Somerset Academy falling 70-56.
Somerset Academy might have lost, but man, Jahlon Blain was a machine: he scored 20 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Jayden Alcine, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Norland is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season. As for Somerset Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-7.
Norland strolled past Somerset Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 80-65. Will Norland repeat their success, or does Somerset Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
