Baseball Recap: Walkertown Wins Going Away Against Greater Vision Academy

Walkertown won the last time they faced Greater Vision Academy and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Wolfpack were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Lions. Considering the Wolfpack have won 13 matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

David Olmedo made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cam Smith, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Caden Joyce was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one double.

The victory snapped Walkertown's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-6 record. As for Greater Vision Academy, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Coming up, Walkertown will challenge Leadership Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolfpack's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Greater Vision Academy, they will take on Riverside Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on May 1.
